A reputable leaker has revealed Marathon‘s price and the weapons that will be available at launch. Bungie has remained relatively quiet about the shooter after a series of controversies and setbacks, although there are signs that things may be turning around for the game. While Marathon‘s release date is still a mystery, fans might’ve just gotten a better idea of what to expect from it when it finally does arrive.
Bungie was notably absent from Sony’s September State of Play, but it’s clear that work on its upcoming extraction shooter is still underway. The studio announced that Marathon is getting another round of closed playtests, running from October 22 to October 28. Opening the game to more testing and feedback is a positive sign for development, and a new leak may offer relief for gamers anxious about the title after all the trouble it’s faced.
Leaker Claims Marathon Will Cost $40 and Have 28 Weapons at Launch
On October 7, Destiny 2 and Marathon dataminer Deakstiny took to Twitter to reveal a slurry of information about the upcoming game, including a $40 price tag for the base game. According to the post, there will also be a deluxe edition available for roughly $60 and a cosmetic-only season pass for an additional $10. If true, this would be in line with earlier rumors, as Bungie has said Marathon will not be a “full-priced” title, leading many to wonder if it would ask for $40, as other Sony live service titles like Helldivers 2 do. However, Deakstiny was careful to say prices are subject to change. In the replies, the leaker also said the game would have 28 weapons at launch, although this may also change.
According to Deakstiny’s posts, Marathon‘s launch weapons will include four automatic rifles, three light machine guns, six precision rifles, three pistols, two rail guns, three shotguns, three snipers, and four other guns. Of course, all these details are as yet unconfirmed, but Deakstiny does have a relatively reliable track record. In September 2025, they leaked multiple improvements seen in a Marathon closed playtest that Bungie issued DMCA takedowns for, potentially leading credence to their accuracy.
If these recent leaks are true, it seems like Marathon will offer a lot of variety without a significant price tag at launch. It would make sense if Bungie is trying hard to make a good impression off the bat, given Marathon‘s indefinite delay that followed disappointing playtester feedback and an art plagiarism scandal. In light of that delay, it’s unclear how long gamers will need to wait before learning if these leaks are accurate, but things may be looking up for the much-troubled shooter.
